Catholic Schools Broken Bay is an inclusive and welcoming community. Anyone supportive of the Catholic ethos and values of our schools is welcome to apply for positions at CSBB. All Primary teachers are expected to teach the Religious Education (RE) curriculum, and as such, are required to obtain accreditation to teach RE within their first five years of employment. All teachers in CSBB schools are expected to be supportive of and model participation in all aspects of Catholic school life, including prayer and liturgies.
Catholic Schools Broken Bay is a community of 45 Catholic Schools located across Sydney’s North Shore, Northern Beaches and the Central Coast. The Broken Bay Diocese covers an expansive geographic area, extending from Manly in the south to Lake Munmorah on the upper Central Coast, and as far west as Carlingford and Pennant Hills. There are 36 Primary schools, 7 Secondary Schools, 1 K-12 school, and a school for special purposes, providing quality Catholic Education to over 18,000 students across the Diocese.
CSBB is committed to growing and nurturing the next generation of teachers and providing quality support and mentoring. Whether you are a pre-service teacher completing a professional experience placement in our schools, seeking employment opportunities as either a learning support assistant (LSA) or conditionally-accredited teacher, or looking for scholarship opportunities, we have dedicated support available to you. All pre-service and early career teachers employed in our system are allocated an experienced mentor teacher to provide advice, guidance and debriefing opportunities. We offer several scholarships, internships and grants each year, through our Exemplary Teacher Incentive Program, which provides financial assistance and paid part-time employment to successful pre-service teachers while they complete their degree, in addition to a permanent teaching position on course completion. Our schools are committed to initial teacher education through professional experience placements and 98% of pre-service teachers rated their 2024 placement experience in our schools as 5-star.
At CSBB, we strive to meet market industry expectations and continue to be competitive on the salary and benefits we offer our staff for all roles in our system. For our teaching roles, our latest four-year CSBB Enterprise Agreement provides salaries which are currently around 2% above the NSW Department of Education. Our EA is also underpinned by a guarantee our rates will be at least 1.5% above the NSW Department of Education into the future. Mentoring is available for all Early Career Teachers employed in Catholic Schools Broken Bay and for all scholarship, internship and grant holders as part of our Exemplary Teacher Incentive Program. School principals assign experienced mentor teachers to all Early Career Teachers in their schools, often mentor teachers are working towards their Highly Accomplished/Lead Teacher accreditation.
Safeguarding encompasses proactive measures that unite the commitment of staff, parents and the broader school community to create and maintain safe environments with emphasis on prevention, accountability, and practices that foster a culture of safety and care for all students. We take our responsibility to protect children seriously. All staff are expected to promote child safety by having a clear understanding of their Safeguarding responsibilities and act in accordance with those responsibilities. Find out more here.
You can register for casual employment by contacting our individual Schools. Once you officially register as a casual and obtain a CSBB number with us, you will be able to work at our CSBB schools.
In Broken Bay we take our responsibility to protect children seriously. All staff are expected to promote child safety by having a clear understanding of their legal child protection responsibilities.
Anyone applying for teaching or school support staff positions will be required to apply for a Working with Children Check and obtain clearance before being eligible to work in a Broken Bay Catholic Systemic School.
To apply for a Working With Children Check:
- fill in an online form at www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au or call the helpline to have someone fill in a form for you
- take the application number to a motor registry or Service NSW Office, pay the fee (if applicable) and have your identity confirmed (you will need to take appropriate identification with you)
- provide your Working With Children Check or application number to CSBB staff for verification as part of your application
The Working With Children Check will be valid for a five-year period for any child related employment within NSW.

Applications for our Exemplary Teacher Incentive Program can be made via the Teaching Scholarships page of the CSBB website. There are 3 incentives available:
- Young Achievers Teacher Training Scholarship – for high-achieving Year 12 leavers entering an initial teacher education degree.
- Targeted Teacher Internship – for mid-degree pre-service teachers specialising in hard-to-fill subjects.
- Exemplary Teacher Grants – for conditionally accredited penultimate and final-year pre-service teachers ready to teach unsupervised.
