Pathways & Partnerships - CSBB Sport (K-12)

Our schools offer opportunities for all students to participate in sport, regardless of their experience level. We are dedicated to providing lifelong learning, both on and off the field. CSBB offers excellent opportunities for all our students to participate in sports and encourages exercise as a lever for general wellbeing.

K-12 Sport Participation Opportunities  (Non-Pathway)

Our interschool events offer all students the opportunity to represent their schools and experience the joy of sports participation. These events are designed to encourage widespread participation, centred on representing school spirit and developing both skills and sportsmanship. Participation is coordinated by school staff in consultation with the Principal and sports personnel, ensuring every eligible student can partake and represent their school proudly.

For students in Years 3-6, our schools offer interschool gala day events. These events are designed to be inclusive, with modified games to accommodate various skill levels including Football (Soccer), Touch-tag, Netball, Tennis and Golf. These offerings are periodically assessed to ensure they remain engaging and current.

Our Secondary students (Years 7-12) have the opportunity to engage in non-pathway Broken Bay Championship events across several sports including Australian Football, Basketball, Football (Soccer), Golf, Netball, Rugby League, Rugby Sevens, Surf Lifesaving, Touch Football, Volleyball and Water Polo.

Representative Pathways- Primary (Ages 8-13)

Our Representative Pathway events cater to high potential and gifted athletes, offering them a competitive environment to develop their skills and gain selection to State and National levels.

Eligible students are provided detailed event information by their schools. The representative pathway for Primary students is ‘NSWCPS - Polding’ (NSW Catholic Primary Schools, Polding) encompassing the Northern half of the state’s Catholic primary schools and includes five other dioceses - Armidale, Bathurst, Lismore, Maitland/Newcastle and Wilcannia/Forbes.

Specifically targeting Year 5 and 6 students with representative-level skills, our program offers sports including: Australian Football, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Softball and Tennis. Opportunities in Swimming, Cross Country, and Athletics are available for students in Years 3-6, following selections at school-level trials or carnivals.

Representative Pathways- Secondary (Ages 12-19)

Our Secondary schools participate in the NSWCCC (NSW Combined Catholic Colleges) representative pathway which includes 11 other Diocese/Associations including Armidale, Bathurst, Canberra/Goulburn, CGSSSA (Catholic Girls Secondary Schools Sport Association), Lismore, Maitland/Newcastle, Parramatta, Sydney Catholic Schools, Wilcannia/Forbes, Wollongong and Wagga Wagga.

Secondary students receive detailed information on eligibility and event specifics through their schools. Representative pathways are structured based on age, gender, and skill levels, with selections occurring during school sports trials/nominations. Sports offered include: Australian Football, Baseball, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Golf, Hockey, Netball, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Softball, Tennis, Volleyball and Water Polo. Pathways in Swimming, Cross Country, and Athletics open post-selection at school-level trials or carnivals.

Our Staff

Our experienced staff are involved with school sporting championships at Diocesan, state and national levels, providing mentorship and encouragement to our students and other staff. Alumni continue to engage with our programs, offering mentoring and official roles at our events facilitating ongoing development and growth through the CSBB system in Year 13 and beyond.
